Yaşın ilerlemesiyle emeklilik vb. nedenlerle gelir azalmakta iken yaşa bağlı sağlık sorunları nedeniyle bakım ihtiyacı ve giderler artmaktadır. Bu durum yaşlıların yoksullaşmasına neden olmaktadır. Bütün nüfus gruplarını olumsuz etkileyen yoksulluk, yaşlı nüfus gibi bazı nüfus gruplarını daha fazla etkilemektedir. Bununla birlikte yoksulluk deneyimi yaşanılan bölgenin özelliklerine göre değişiklik göstermektedir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, kırsalda yaşayan yaşlıların, yoksulluk durumları ve yoksullukla baş etme biçimlerinin açığa çıkarılmasıdır. Nitel araştırma tasarımı kullanılan bu araştırmada, Ankara ili Kalecik ilçesine bağlı Satılar Köyündeki 65 yaş üstü 12 yaşlı ile yüz yüze görüşmeler gerçekleştirilmiştir. Görüşmelerde araştırmacılar tarafından geliştirilen yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu, verilerin çözümlenmesinde MAXQDA 2020 programı kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sonuçlarına göre aile ve sosyal ilişkiler, yaşlıların karşılaştıkları sorunlar, yaşlıların yoksullukla baş etme biçimleri, yaşlıların hizmet beklentileri ve toplumsal cinsiyet odağında yaşlıların durumları olmak üzere 6 tema belirlenmiştir. Araştırmada, kırsalda yaşayan yaşlıların aile ve sosyal çevreleri ile ilişkilerinin güçlü olduğu, ileri yaşlarına rağmen üretime devam ettikleri, kendilerini yoksul olarak nitelendirmedikleri, sağlık hizmetlerine erişimde sorunlar yaşadıkları, kadınların erkeklere kıyasla yoksulluğu daha derinden deneyimledikleri sonuçları elde edilmiştir.
