Özet:

After the withdrawal of the Turkish army from the Caucasus, the Turkish people, who were in a difficult situation, started to form political organisations based on militia organisation in order to defend their homeland. Following the events carefully, Mustafa Kemal Pasha informed the allies, the United States and representatives of neutral countries participating in the Paris Peace Conference of his concerns about the atrocities committed by Armenians in Eastern Anatolia and the Caucasus and the fate of the region with a note while he was in Samsun. On May 28, 1919, the Armenian Government officially announced that Eastern Anatolia would be annexed into the borders of Armenia. In response to these developments, the Turkish General Staff declared that the protection of innocent Turkish people from Armenian attacks was the primary defence duty of the Turkish army. However, their was not enough army in the region to intervene in the events, and the national forces created had also been disbanded by the British. In the Caucasus, the Armenians had increased their persecution and oppression against the Turks and these attacks had reached to the border, and even the Armenian artillery had started to operate, which made the events inextricable. According to intelligence received in Kars and Sarıkamış in early July, Armenians rounded up prominent Turks, especially young people, imprisoned some of them and killed others. The cruelty and massacre inflicted on the Turks by the Armenians continued until the forward operation of the Turkish army in October 1920.
