Özet:

This study examines the effects of amateur choirs on individuals and the contributions these choirs make to the music culture of their regions. Based on interviews with members of a selected choir, it discusses factors influencing individuals participation preferences, motivations for joining the choir, and the age and occupational groups that are more involved in such communities. With the increasing interest in amateur choirs today, there has been a rapid rise in the number of these communities. The Odunpazarı Public Education Center Turkish Art Music Choir was chosen as an example due to its continuous and stable operations with the same instructor for 50 years. In this context, the aim of the research is to investigate the social functions of amateur choirs and their contributions to Turkish culture, education, and art through the example of the Odunpazarı Public Education Center Turkish Art Music Choir. Additionally, the study aims to identify the necessary conditions for the sustainability of such choirs and to assess the situation through interview forms. The research is designed as a qualitative study in terms of its general framework, objectives, and methodology. Observation and literature review methods were employed to determine the functions of amateur choirs through the selected choir.
