Özet:

Conservative Judaism defends that halakha is normative and binding and that a bond between humans and God is developed based on the Torah revealed at Sinai. Although there are different views within the movement, the common belief is that halakha is always evolving and is open to interpretation by rabbis at every period. Therefore, halakha has a structure that is both evolving and changing. Conservative Judaism derives its view of halakha from the Positive-Historical School, which shapes its perspective on Judaism. According to Frankel d. 1875, the founder of the Positive-Historical School on which Conservative Judaism is based, traditional Judaism has never been static for centuries, but has been the product of a historical development process that has undergone change and evolution. According to him, rabbis should never impose changes on Jewish society that is not ready to accept change, as Reform Jews do. When Frankel founded the Positive Historical School and Solomon Schechter d. 1915 put forward the idea of a Catholic Israel, their main goal was to defend halakha against Reformists who rejected halakha. At the same time, Conservative Judaism argued that books on halakha, such as the Shulchan Aruch, were inadequate for the age in which they lived; therefore, it was necessary to understand halakha in different and new ways in todays conditions. Similarly, in Conservative Judaism, it is indisputable that the practices that became part of the Jewish way of life in ancient times must be subject to change in the age in which they live. Because this stems from the needs of the Jewish community. Conservative Judaism is a movement that is not as strict as the Orthodox but does not make as radical changes in the religion as the Reformists, perhaps we can call moderate Reformists. The basic philosophy of the movement is that tradition and change are carried together in Jewish life. According to the movement, Judaism must adapt to new conditions. Because this dynamism is already present in the essence of Judaism and from history to the present, Judaism has adapted to the environments it is in thanks to this dynamism.
