Özet:

"Mushkil al-Qurʾān" is a subject of paramount importance in Quranic sciences. As it is necessary to understand the Qurʾān correctly and to develop accurate interpretations of it, it is essential that this issue, considered as a part of 'Ulūm-al-Qurʾān, be understood well. People’s competences regarding comprehension are hardly alike. It is known that those without sufficient knowledge for correct interpretation cannot use their mental ability to systematically interpret the mushkil verses of the Qurʾān. It is commonly seen that schools of thought that are against Islam use mutashābih, unclear and mushkil verses to divert people’s attention away from the real message that the Qurʾān wants to convey and from the truths of the Qurʾān. Islamic scholars who lived in different ages have meticulously focused on the concept of "mushkil al-Qurʾān" and effectively responded even to the slightest criticisms regarding this issue. It remains utterly important for the believers the Qurʾān to know that there is no dispute among the verses in the Qurʾān. Otherwise, it seems likely that they will adopt some skeptical approaches against the Qurʾān.
This article aims to address the claims, put forward in different periods of history, regarding apparent contradictions among some verses and to elaborate on the interpretation methods to be adopted in inferring the meanings of the verses that are supposedly in conflict with each other, by focusing on the reasons for these apparent disputes. Tafsīr scholars not only mention some of the reasons that could possibly lead to the claims of disputes, but they also draw attention to how to eliminate such mistaken claims about such verses.
There are quite a few reasons making people think that some of the verses of the Qurʾān conflict with each other. One of these could be the fact that some concepts mentioned in the Qurʾān came out in different periods, such as the case of humankind’s creation and from which material the first man was created. Another reason that lends support to the claims of dispute is the fact that the verses in question were revealed in different times. We could explain this by citing a couple of examples: In the 39th verse of Sūrah al-Raḥmān, Allah Almighty emphasizes that people will not be questioned in the Hereafter, whereas, in the 24th verse of Sūrah al-Ṣaffāt, He notes that it is sinners who will be questioned. However, a closer look at this issue reveals that the apparent dispute between these verses is due to the difference in the places where the act of questioning process will take place.
Another reason that causes the verses to be interpreted differently is the difference between the literal and figurative meanings words. This is because some words are commonly used in one or more figurative senses, along with their literal meanings. For example, what is meant by the word "sukārā" mentioned in the 2nd verse of the Sūrah al-Ḥajj is hardly its literal meaning; the expression "you see them drunk" in the verse is simply provided as a comparison.
Commentators have developed some methods to eliminate the alleged disputes that apparently exist between some verses. It is clear that they predicate their methods upon the date of the revelation of the verses. That is, they commonly agree that a later verse abolishes the provision of an earlier one. Another method is to bring the verses that are apparently in dispute together. Furthermore, the differences in the way the Qurʾān is recited can lead to apparent disputes among verses. It is essential that the following points be borne in mind, regarding mushkil al-Qurʾān. First, learners of the Qurʾān should consider that there is no dispute between the verses of the Qurʾān. Secondly, they are expected to adopt an objective attitude towards eliminating possible doubts regarding apparently contradictory verses by using the procedures suggested by commentators.

“Müşkilü’l-Kur’ân”, Kur’an ilimleri içerisinde büyük önem arz eden bir mevzudur. Kur’an’ı doğru anlama ve isabetli yorum geliştirmenin gerekliliği açısından ‘Ulûmü’l-Kur’ân kapsamında değerlendirilen bu konunun iyi anlaşılması gerekmektedir.
İnsanların anlama ve kavrama kabiliyetleri birbirinden farklıdır. Doğru bir yorum kabiliyeti için yeterli bilgiye sahip olmayanların Kur’an’daki müşkil âyetleri belirli kurallar çerçevesinde yorumlamada yeterli aklî melekeye sahip olmadıkları bilinmektedir. İslâm’a aykırı düşünce ekollerinin Kur’an’ın vermek istediği asıl mesajdan ve Kur’an hakikatlerinden insanları saptırabilme adına müteşâbih, mücmel ve müşkil âyetleri kullandıkları görülmektedir. Farklı dönemlerde yaşamış İslâm âlimleri “Müşkilü’l-Kur’ân” kavramı üzerinde ciddiyetle durmuş ve bu yönden gelebilecek en ufak eleştirilere bile ikna edici cevaplar vermişlerdir. Kur’an’ın hak olduğuna inananların Kur’an’da hiçbir tenakuzun olmadığını bilmeleri önem arz etmektedir. Aksi halde Kur’an hakkında şüpheci bazı yaklaşımları benimsemeleri muhtemel görünmektedir.
Birincisi, Kur’an talebesi, Kur’an âyetleri arasında hiçbir çelişkinin olmadığı hususunu göz önünde bulundurmalıdır.
