Özet:

The aim of this study is to examine the potential of sports and athletes to create a positive perception in international public opinion as an element of soft power within the framework of qualitative research paradigm. Within the scope of the study, Yusuf Dikeç, who attracted attention with his unique performance in the 10-meter air pistol mixed team competition at the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics, became a popular figure in traditional and new media in a short time. Social media posts and news about Dikeç in international news agencies were collected between August 12 and September 19, 2024, and these data were evaluated through document analysis. The findings reveal how Dikeçs unique style and naturalistic approaches have influenced the process of creating a positive image of both himself as an athlete and Turkey in the context of sports diplomacy.
