Özet:

Disasters have caused the death of many people throughout history and caused great economic damage. This situation continues today. Looking for ways to protect against disasters, humanity tries to reduce the damages caused by disasters with various measures and intervention methods. Experiences in disasters in the historical perspective have revealed the concept of disaster management. Disaster management can be defined as the process of carrying out the activities before and after the disaster in an effective and coordinated manner. In these activities, many independent units work both before and after the disaster. Establishment of coordination between these units will only be possible with the establishment of an effective communication system. Communication with the development of technology; It has evolved from classical media tools such as radio, television, and newspaper to social media, which can be used in portable devices and examined under the title of new media. Today, social media has become an important part of the daily lives of individuals in the context of the number of users and the duration of use. For this reason, it is considered that the use of social media in the disaster management process will provide significant advantages. Considering that communication systems have been disabled in recent disasters, it can be stated that social media can be used as an effective tool, especially in the post-disaster response phase. Through social media, an easy, fast and effective communication will be established between the units in charge of disaster management and the victims.
