Özet:

Konane Kale Tepe Settlement is located in the northwest part of Pisidia. Konane occupies an important place in respect to its position. It is located on the course of the north-south route of the antique cities of Apollonia and Seleukeia Sidera, both of which were founded as colony cities during the reign of Seleukos Dynasty. Konane – Kale Tepe Settlement, which was probably founded to maintain the security of Seleukeia Sidera in particular and positioned on a hill at an elevation of 1676 m, depicts the typical features of a military garrison. The archaeological surveys showed that this settlement had almost all the elements of a defense system such as fortification walls, turrets, gates and moats. The defense system was shaped according to the topography of the area. Besides, it took a considerably large portion of land under control thanks to its peculiar location. Taking all these aspects into account, an effort was made in the current study to comprehend how the defense systems developed during Hellenistic Period were positioned in Konane – Kale Tepe Settlement making use of such documentation as the measurements carried out in the site, aerial photographs and drawings.
