Özet:

Khurāsān, a vast region, and Nīshābūr, one of the leading centers of this region, witnessed a struggle for power following the collapse of the Abbasid Caliphate. Khurāsān and Nīshābūr was a area where the Sāmānids, the Ghaznavīds, the Ḳarakhānids and the Great Seljuks in the 10th and 11th centuries, tried to rule and maintain their sovereignty. The Ghaznavīds and the Great Seljuks supported the political stability they established in this area by developing solid relations with local elements. The Ghaznavīds and the Great Seljuks appointed members of large families to important positions. These dynasties, which were utilized in goverment service, played an important role in Khurāsān and Nīshābūr. One of the foremost of these families was the Ṣāʿidīs. Originating from Nīshābūr, the Ṣāʿidīs were influential in Khurāsān, Nīshābūr and major centers from the end of the 10th century to the mid-12th century. The ancestor of the Ṣāʿidī family was Abul-ʿAlā Imād al-Islām Ṣāʿid b. Muḥammad al-Ustuwāʾī. He grew up in the period of Sāmānids and lived in the period of the greatest rulers of the Ghaznavīds and the eve of the establishment of the Great Seljuk State. Abul-ʿAlā Ṣāʿid was a famous personality who left a deep mark on the political, religious, social and cultural life of not only Khurāsān and Nīshābūr, but also various Islamic countries during the three states mentioned. In this study, the life and activities of Abul-ʿAlā Ṣāʿid at the beginning of the Great Seljuks are going to be examined.
