Özet:

Hakîm et-Tirmidhi d. 320932, one of the significant figures of the third century Hijri, has been a pioneering name in various fields of knowledge and culture. His contributions to the science of hadith, including the first examples of hadith commentary, being the first to mention the science of wisdom, and expressing initial views on many topics within theoretical mysticism are just a few aspects that distinguish him. In our tradition of knowledge and culture, one of the areas where he provided one of the first examples is autobiography. Buduwwu Shan is one of the first examples of its kind and is an autobiographical work of his. This small-sized work was published based on a manuscript discovered for the first time in modern times by Hellmut Ritter 1892-1971. The analysis of this manuscript, located in the Library of the Faculty of Language, History, and Geography at Ankara University, highlights its significance in Arabic literature, particularly in the literature of mysticism. As a source of Hakîm et-Tirmidhis life and spiritual experiences, Buduwwu Shan was not written with the purpose of composing an autobiography. However, this valuable work presents itself as a source that includes the authors personal experiences, sheds light on his spiritual and religious orientations, offers clues about the social and cultural context, and conveys educational and instructive values.
