Özet:

Bearing the fatigue of a great war in the middle of 1945, the Republic of Turkey, under the influence of the atmosphere of rebirth prevailing in the world, decided to take the necessary steps to change the 22-year-old single-party regime. The Republican Peoples Party, which is as old as the establishment of the Republic, unlike the previous unsuccessful multi-party life attempts, paved the way for the establishment of a permanent system. With the emergence of the Democrat Party from former cadres of the Republican Peoples Party, multi-party life has become the reality of the Republic. The rapid development of multi-party life stunned various groups and complicated the adaptation process. Moreover, it exited the masses and energized political discourse. This article will examine this historical turning point in Turkish history through Adana, a lively and prosperous province of the 1940s. Adana, with its nationally effective media organs, is a crucial example for understanding the dynamics of the period under discussion. It is also aimed to contribute to the existing literature by reflecting the uncertainty and anxiety experienced in the Republic Turkey on the pages of Adana newspapers during the transition to democracy.
