Özet:

Spor Âlemi Magazine, which started its publication life on 6 November 1919, has an important place in the history of sports. Published until 1928, the magazines concessionaire was Said Tevfik and its editor-in-chief was Burhaneddin Bey. The magazine, which was published every fifteen days, provided readers with information on sports branches such as boxing, tennis, hockey, swimming, cycling, javelin, athletics, with a focus on football. The magazine was published at the end of the First World War and the beginning of the National Struggle in Ankara. This situation makes the magazine more interesting. The psychological and sociological changes brought about by the long years of war were also reflected in sports activities. Sports, especially football, became interesting not only for those who played but also for those who watched. Especially during the occupation years, a process of competition began in which young people in Istanbul and Anatolia faced each other in non-war competitions. Spor Âlemi Magazine also aimed to fulfil its duty to make sports more interesting. With the victory of the National Struggle and the establishment of the Republic of Turkey in 1923, new steps were taken in the field of sports as in every field. In the process after the establishment of the Republic of Turkey, it is seen that the attempts for development in every field were also reflected in sports. Although the lack of financial means was also evident in this period, various ideas were put forward by organising sports congresses on what could be done for the development of sports. In the process of following the developments in the world in the field of sports and trying to keep up with them, it was observed that the state started to carry out some activities for the first time as of 1924. In this year, the First Turkish Sports Congress, which was organised under the leadership of the Turkish Training Associations Alliance, was convened and even a national football tournament was organised. In 1925, the second congress was held, and the Prime Minister İsmet Pasha attended the congress in person. The topics discussed and speeches made at the congress were described in detail in the issue of Spor Âlemi Magazine dated 1 October 1925. Spor Âlemi Magazine, which entered its seventh year, was published weekly during this period. The congress, which started at 14:30 on Friday, was held in the meeting hall in the Municipality Building in Ankara. The congress, which lasted for three days, continued with negotiations after İsmet Pashas opening speech. Issues such as the election of the members of the congress and the decisions taken at the congress were discussed in detail in Spor Âlemi Magazine.

Yayım hayatına 6 Kasım 1919 tarihinde başlayan Spor Âlemi Dergisi spor tarihi açısından öneme sahiptir. 1928 yılına kadar yayımlanan derginin imtiyaz sahibi Said Tevfik, başyazarı Burhaneddin Beydir.
