Özet:

As global trade increases, the importance of logistics activities in terms of logistics performance of countries, foreign trade and the effectiveness of international competitiveness comes to the forefront. This study investigates the relationship between logistics performance and export with the revealed comparative advantage index value RCA used in measuring the competitiveness of countries in foreign trade. In this context, panel regression analysis was conducted with RCA value, logistics performance and export variables for the D-8 Economic Cooperation Organization group of countries Turkey, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Egypt, Nigeria and Pakistan. The aim of the study is to compare the competitiveness status and effectiveness of logistics activities in foreign trade among D-8 countries. Since the studies conducted in this field, especially in terms of foreign trade competitiveness, are limited, this paper is being prepared from the point of view that the study will contribute to national or international literature. In line with the purpose of the study here, logistics activities are a factor that plays a role in the development of a country since they affect its foreign trade. In this respect, the export performances of D-8 countries and the development of the logistics sector are included in the scope of the analysis. One of the concepts considered in line with the determined purpose is the RCA value. This value is an important measure that shows the size of both the countrys economy and the product market of a product in a countrys exports. This concept, which is new to the literature, determines the commercial movements of a countrys goods or services in the international economy and provides convenience to countries to calculate which goods countries are advantageous and disadvantageous in according to this determination. On the other hand, factors such as increasing efficiency of customs and border transactions, improving trade and transportation infrastructure, reducing procedures in international transportation, increasing competence in logistics, correct tracking and monitoring of shipments, and making shipments at the planned time are the variables taken as basis in the efficiency of logistics activities. According to the results obtained, it is seen that the logistic index value and goods exports have a negative effect on the RCA1 value. In other words, according to the 2007-2023 period data for the D-8 country group, it is seen that the increases in the logistic index valueand goods export variables reduce the number of products with an RCA value greater than one. It has been found that the logistic index value and goods exports have a positive effect on the RCA2 value at the level. In other words, it has been concluded that a one-unit increase in the logistic index value and goods export variables of countries increases the highest RCA value for the exported products of the countries. In addition, it is seen that the RCA1 value has a negative effect on the logistic index value. In other words, according to the 2007-2023 period data for the D-8 country group, it is seen that increases in the variable of the number of products with an RCA value greater than one decrease the logistic index value. When looking at the export variable, it is determined that the export value has a positive effect on the logistic index value. In other words, it is found that increases in the export value variable increase the logistic index value. Another result obtained is that the RCA2 value and goods exports have a positive effect on the logistic index value. In other words, when the study group is taken into account, it is seen that the highest RCA value for countries export products and increases in goods export variables increase the logistic index value.
