Özet:

As a discipline examining the relationship between literature and society, the sociology of literature investigates not only the aesthetic values of literary works but also their social functions and impacts. While aiming to understand the relationship literature establishes with society, the sociology of literature analyzes a story within the context of the social structure, values, and individuals inner conflicts of the period in which it was written. Ali Deshti, one of the prominent figures in contemporary Persian prose, was a writer, journalist, and statesman. His story, Two Letters, consisting of two correspondences, is a powerful literary work that addresses individuals inner conflicts within a social context. This story serves as an essential tool for understanding the dynamics between personal emotions and societal norms. It portrays the intense love and disappointment expressed by a man for the woman he loves and the helplessness of a woman caught between societal expectations and her own emotions, making it a rich subject for analysis within the framework of the sociology of literature. In this study, after providing information on the sociology of literature, an overview of the life of Ali Deshti, a significant figure in contemporary Iranian literature, is presented. Subsequently, Two Letters has been translated by us from Persian to Turkish and analyzed from the perspective of the sociology of literature.
