Özet:

The Garip movement, which emerged in Turkish literature under the leadership of Orhan Veli Kanık, Melih Cevdet Anday and Oktay Rifat Horozcu, managed to attract attention with its search for a new style and language in poetry in those years. Turkish Cypriot poets were influenced by Divan and Servet-i Fünun poets, Tanzimat and National literature movements, and the trends and groups within the Turkish literature of the Republican period. Then, after a period of time, they succeeded to gain their own identity. In Turkish Cypriot literature, the traces of the Garip movement can be seen in various aspects especially in the poems written after 1950. In this study, the poems of Mehmet Kansu, Pembe Marmara, Süleyman Uluçamgil, Osman Türkay, Orbay Deliceırmak, and Urkiye Mine Balman, who have contributed to Turkish Cypriot literature with their poems, were examined and it was identified and interpreted in what ways and to what extent the Garip movement influenced these poets. This study used convenience sampling method, which is a type of purposive sampling. In the study, the document analysis technique was used to collect data, and the selected poems were analyzed through descriptive analysis. When the poems of Mehmet Kansu, Pembe Marmara, Süleyman Uluçamgil, Osman Türkay, Orbay Deliceırmak, and Urkiye Mine Balman are examined, the Garip movements search for innovation and originality, and its understanding of aesthetic and formal freedom can be clearly seen. Furthermore, Orhan Veli and his friends showed their influence on Turkish Cypriot poetry with their use of colloquial language, sincere narration, and the inclusion of ordinary people and events in the subjects of poetry.
