Özet:

The İbʿāḍiyya is considered to be one of the sub-sects of the Khārijites, one of the earliest sects to emerge in Islamic history. According to their own sources, from the early periods of Islamic history when their sect as they phrase it was formed, their imams, leaders and the Ibādī community exerted great efforts to understand and practice Islam correctly, and they paid a heavy price due to the prevailing political conditions of the time. However, they emphasize that they did not fall behind scholarly pursuits and authored numerous works, placing strong emphasis on dawah activities such as explaining Islam to others, conveying its teachings, and inviting people to the faith. The Ibādīs have developed a significant intellectual tradition in many issues, especially those related to the principles of religion uṣūl al-dīn. Ibādī scholars produced a large number of systematic workstreatises and booksthrough which they codified their views and ensured their transmission from generation to generation. Members of this sect actively engaged in theological discussions and did not hesitate to express their views on the controversial issues of their time. When we examine the scholarly legacy of Ibādī thinkers, we find a considerable and diverse body of Ibādī literature. One of the theological topics on which Ibādī scholars expressed their views is the question of the Ruyat allāh the beatific vision of God. This issue began to feature prominently in Islamic theological discourse in the second century of the Hijrah. Ibādī scholars approached this issue within the framework of their doctrines on divine unity tawḥīd and the attributes of God. In support of their position, they interpreted relevant Quranic verses and prophetic traditions, while also employing principles of Arabic grammar and rhetoric in their exegesis. In this study, we aim to examine how the İbʿāḍiyya addressed the issue of Ruyat allāh, focusing on their methodological approach and interpretive strategies. We will present the Ibādī perspective on this theological matter by analyzing the works of Ibādī authors and scholars. Given the scope of this study, the views of other theological schools will not be considered.
