Özet:

Art, which allows people to express their feelings and thoughts in a plastic language in the most beautiful way, not only reflects the characteristics of the age in which it was produced, but also carries the cultural codes of the artist who produced it. From past to present, many artists have benefited from the cultural traces of Turkish history and interpreted their works with a contemporary understanding, basing them on their own cultural codes. One of these artists works; It is Meliha Yılmaz who produces the figurative expressive elements of petroglyphs rock paintings and archaeological finds, which contain narratives of the Turkish culture in the geography of Anatolian Civilizations, by transferring them to the canvas surface. The main purpose of this research is to reveal how the artist Meliha Yılmaz interprets the archaeological findings of Göbekli Tepe with a contemporary understanding in her works. Qualitative method was used in the research, and literature scanning and work analysis methods were used to collect data. The research is limited to five works of the artist in which Göbekli Tepe archaeological findings are used. As a result of the research, it was concluded that Meliha Yılmaz, in her works, benefited from the cultural traces of the Turkish history that started in Göbekli Tepe approximately 12,000 thousand years ago, took the primitive linear elements with figurative expressive expression of the symbols in the archaeological finds unearthed from the rocks and columns and transferred them to the canvas surface and used them in the art of painting. It has been seen that he interpreted it with a contemporary understanding by combining it with other elements.
