Özet:

Phenomena of ethnic and religious identity affect individuals lives, the way they perceive life and their value judgements. These effects and relations arouse curiosity for researchers in the field of ethno-religious groups in social sciences. Studies on ethnic groups such as Alevis, Armenians, Assyrians, Kurds, Zazas, etc. in Turkey include discussions on the axis of history, political science, minority rights, etc. These groups, which exist with their ethnic and religious identities, continue to maintain their cultures, traditions and religious beliefs. One of the aims of this study is to reveal what problems are the subject of field research on the daily life practices of these groups, which are minorities in number, which methods and techniques are used, and what the results are. For this purpose, the theses and dissertations described from a qualitative perspective are subjected to a bibliographic content analysis. Research on ethno-religious identities and groups in Turkey corresponds to a voluminous literature. In this context, the main ethnic groups have been selected and the researches conducted with a qualitative field study method have been included in the scope of the article. The aim is to bring these researches together by exploring theses and written works on ethno-religious groups, and to develop criticism by establishing similarities or relationships between the subjects. It is a difficult endeavour to reach an in-depth set of information about the social, religious, etc. lives of these people, who sometimes even have to hide their identities for fear of social stigmatisation and exclusion. For these reasons, theoretical studies on ethnic identitygroup and religion have generally been conducted within similar fields and subjects. This shows that a diversity in the literature should be ensured. One of the important deficiencies in sociological studies on ethno-religious groups is that the theoretical relationship with the methodology of field research is not sufficiently established. Some studies that reveal new findings on the relationship between religion and ethnic identity make important contributions to the literature by revealing the cultural interactions of numerical minority groups with other ethnic and religious groups. Ultimately, this study aims to make an original contribution to the literature by trying to show the gap regarding the daily and religious practices of ethno-religious groups who have experienced religious change. In addition, the answers to questions such as the methodological problems used in the aforementioned studies, the missing themes, the extent to which the theoretical basis can establish a connection with the findings, etc. are revealed. Therefore, this research has guiding elements for studies aiming to analyse ethno-religious groups. Thus, it is thought that the researches to be conducted with a sociological perspective will facilitate researchers in terms of what kind of methods and techniques to apply, which problematic issues to highlight, how ethno-religious groups are in cultural interaction with other groups, how these groups maintain their cultural and religious life practices, etc.
