Özet:

The 1930s were very important years fort he Turkish Revolutionary Movement. When the possibilities of the period are considered, the revolutionary books that can be considered as the most effective ideological tools have enriched the period in question considerably. Halil Nimetullah Ozturks work titled Populism and Republic and Turkish Populism and Republic, which is the subject of the study, was written in 1930, at a time when the Turkish revolution movement mirrored itself. The aim of this study is to make an attempt to introduce the issue of religion in the sociology of Halil Nimetullah Ozturk, which can be considered as the product of a period and an effort in which the ideological basis of the new Turkiye and a new Turkish identity were tried to be created, in the context of his work in question. It has been concluded that the work establishes a contrast relationship between the Turkish revolution and the Ottoman Empire and that the issue of religion is an Ottoman issue.
