 Seyf al-Din Farghani d. circa 705 AH is a prominent, yet lesser-known figure in the history of Persian literature and Iranian-Islamic Sufism. Although he has received less attention compared to renowned poets such as Jalal al-Din Rumi in terms of fame and influence, his works and thoughts played a significant role in reflecting the social, political, and mystical issues of Asia Minor during the Seljuk and Mongol periods. In the face of the weakness and collapse of the Seljuk Sultanate of Rum and the Mongol domination over Anatolia, Seyf al-Farghani, like many of his contemporaries, took up the pen of condemnation and blame, offering a harsh critique of the conditions of his time. Consequently, he criticized the oppression and corruption of the ruling classes, as well as the indifference, submission, or compromise of dominant movements such as the Mawlawiya order, in an uncompromising and satirical manner. By analyzing the life and poetry of Seyf al-Din Farghani, especially his social and Sufi critiques, the present research demonstrates how this great poet and mystic used poetic language to critique the social and political conditions of his era, directing part of his criticism towards the sheikhs of the Mawlawiya order. In this article, we aim, by referring to some of Farghanis critical odes, to gain insight into the political, social, and cultural situation of Asia Minor in the seventh and early eighth centuries AH, and to examine the contrast between his views and some of the beliefs and social conduct of Rumi and his followers.

 Özet: Seyfüddîn Fergānî ö. 7051305 civarı, İran edebiyatı ve İslam tasavvufu tarihinde önemli ancak daha az tanınan bir şahsiyettir. Celāleddin Rumi gibi meşhur şairler kadar şöhret ve etki bakımından ilgi görmese de, onun eserleri ve düşünceleri, Anadolunun Selçuklu ve Moğol dönemindeki sosyal, politik ve mistik meselelerini yansıtmada önemli bir rol oynamıştır. Anadolu Selçuklu Sultanlığının zayıflayıp çöküşü ve Moğolların Anadoluya hâkim olması karşısında, Seyfüddîn Fergānî, çağdaşları gibi yergi ve eleştiri kalemini eline alarak, döneminin şartlarını sert bir şekilde eleştirmiştir. Bu bağlamda, yönetici sınıfın baskı ve yozlaşmasını, ayrıca Mevlevîlik gibi etkin tarikatların kayıtsızlık, boyun eğme veya uzlaşmacı tavrını acımasızca ve hicivli bir üslupla eleştirmiştir. Seyfüddîn Fergānî hayatını ve şiirlerini, özellikle sosyal ve tasavvufî eleştirilerini inceleyen bu araştırma, bu büyük şair ve mutasavvıfın, şiir dilini kullanarak döneminin sosyal ve siyasi koşullarını nasıl eleştirdiğini ortaya koymaktadır. Onun eleştirilerinin bir kısmı Mevlevîlik tarikatının şeyhlerine yöneliktir. Bu makalede, Fergānînin bazı eleştirel kasidelerine atıfta bulunarak, 7. ve 8. yüzyıl Anadolusunun siyasi, sosyal ve kültürel durumuna ışık tutmayı ve onun görüşleriyle Mevlânâ Celâleddin Rumi ve takipçilerinin bazı inanç ve toplumsal davranışları arasındaki tezatı incelemeyi amaçlıyoruz.
