Özet:

Unemployment is one of the most important problems of both developed and developing countries. Among the parts who have been mostly affected by this problem, there is the young. Along with the COVID-19 pandemic having rapidly spread all over the world in 2020, the problem of youth unemployment has reached much more serious dimensions. In this study, it has been aimed to examine the effects of the selected macroeconomic factors such as economic growth, inflation, direct foreign investment and trade openness, and of COVID-19 on youth unemployment in OECD countries. Within the scope of the study, the period between 2000 and 2021 has been analysed and the panel data analysis method has been used. The obtained data have shown that the increase in the economic growth and in trade openness decreased the rate of youth unemployment but the rise in inflation increased the rate of youth unemployment in the examined period. Also, it has revealed that COVID-19 pandemic caused an increase in youth unemployment rate.
