Özet:

Is there a similarity between the general understanding about blue-collor workers and the self-understanding of blue-collor workers? In this regard, the foundation of our research is that it is not possible to understand human beings without considering their own perception about themselves. We evaluated 145 cases who applied to the Occupational Diseases Clinic of Dokuz Eylül University. We detected that the educational level of participants was low; they started working at a very young age; either themselves or their parents were immigrated to city; their paranets were had also low level of education and worked as unskilled laboureres. Being a blue-collor worker in our country means an individual who experienced the immigration at a young age; faced serious problems; left the education at a very young age; started working at a young age. They were not able to move to hingher social classes, therefore, not uccessful in changing their social positions as their parents. Both the cultural traits of traditional society and the economic limitations conduce to vicious circle for the children of blue-collor workers. The conditions of these people do not allow them to participate in modern life and the relation of them with modernity is shaped by these limitations. In other words, in Turkiye the blue-collor workers are seemed to be both cause and effect of the societal conditions.
