 The education field is important to development of the students creative thinking potential. When considered that the creative thinking affect the problem solving process positively, it can be understood the role and importance of the creative thinking in the education. The purpose of this study was to reveal the role and importance of the creative thinking in the education as based on the literature. With this aim, the research question was shaped as follows: What is the role and importance of the creative thinking in the education? This study was designed through qualitative method and descriptive design. The keywords of the creative thinking and the creative thinking in the education were reviewed in the literature between the years of 2000-2024 at the Google scholarship database by the Turkish and English documents. The obtained documents were analyzed by content analysis. According to the data, the predominant feature of the creative thinking was the problem solving skill. Additionally, it was revealed the role of the creative thinking in the education as facilitate the learning and this situation leads the development of the students problem solving skills from the pre-school to university level. Therefore, it was suggested to give place in education programs as learning activities for the development of the creative thinking skills of the students and to assess the outputs of these activities to follow the process.

 Öğrencilerin yaratıcı düşünme potansiyellerini geliştirme açısından eğitim alanı önemlidir. Yaratıcı düşünmenin problem çözmede etkin olduğu göz önünde bulundurulduğunda, eğitimde yaratıcı düşünmenin rolü ve bu rolden kaynaklı önemi daha iyi anlaşılabilir. Bu araştırmanın amacı, yaratıcı düşünmenin eğitimdeki rolü açısından önemini ilgili alanyazına dayalı olarak ortaya koymaktır. Bu amaçla, araştırmanın problem cümlesi Eğitimde yaratıcı düşünmenin rolü ve önemi nedir? şeklinde oluşturulmuştur. Bu çalışma nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden betimsel tarama deseninde tasarlanmıştır. Araştırmaya konu olan yaratıcı düşünme ve eğitimde yaratıcı düşünme kavramları Google Akademik veri tabanında anahtar kelimeler olarak, 2000-2024 yıllarını kapsayacak biçimde Türkçe ve İngilizce dokümanlarda taranmış, ulaşılan belgeler içerik analiziyle incelenmiştir. Araştırmada yaratıcı düşünme tanımlarında öne çıkan başat özelliğin problem çözme becerisi olduğu ve yaratıcı düşünme becerilerinin geliştirilmesinde eğitim alanının önemli olduğu bulgusuna ulaşılmıştır. Araştırmada elde edilen bulgulara göre eğitimde yaratıcı düşünmenin öğrenmeyi kolaylaştıran rolü ortaya konulmuş, yaratıcı düşünmenin öneminin bu rolden kaynaklı olarak, öğrencilerin problem çözme becerilerinin geliştirilebileceği yargısına varılmıştır. Sonuç olarak, okul öncesi dönemden başlayarak üniversite öğrenimine kadar eğitimin planlanmasında yaratıcı düşünmeyi geliştirici etkinliklere yer verilmesi önerilmiş ve bu etkinlik çıktılarının yaratıcı düşünme açısından değerlendirilerek sürecin izlenmesinin gerekli olduğu vurgulanmıştır.
