Özet:

Virtual reality applications, which are included in the scope of new media technologies, are used in education and design fields as well as in many areas. The aim of this article is to determine the views of university students using VR technologies on perception, definition of reality, learning, increasing creativity and design, and to identify the positive and negative aspects of these views. The research was conducted with 6 students who took the Virtual Reality Technologies course in Istanbul Yeni Yüzyıl University, Faculty of Communication, Visual Communication Design Department. The data, obtained by conducting in-depth interviews, observations and focus group work with the students, was evaluated with the descriptive analysis method used in qualitative research. It has been observed that students using virtual reality technologies provide emotional and behavioral participation in learning. Interactive and feedback-based learning activities increase learning motivation and provide students with an exciting and happy experience, away from the limitations of the concept of time. As a result of this research, it has been observed that previous design knowledge can be easily applied to the new program and that students develop new application methods by producing creative solutions. As a new model connecting learning and entertainment, the VR design experience is becoming a future where all data is connected, and technology will be used for the benefit of humanity. It is thought that this experience will provide a reality that allows them to design their own alternative worlds within the human-centered envisioned society.
