Özet:

The purpose of this study is to examine the sports participation motivations of students participating in talent scouting. The universe of this study consisted of 184 students who participated in the sports talent scouting conducted in the Kozan district of Adana province. The sample group consisted of 102 volunteer students. Participants were asked to fill out the personal information form and sports participation motives scales. The data obtained were processed via a computer program called SPSS 22.0. Within the framework of descriptive analysis, frequency, percentage, arithmetic mean, kurtosis, and skewness values of the data were calculated. In order to determine whether the data were normally distributed, skewness and kurtosis values were checked and it was was determined that it did not show a normal distribution. Within the scope of inferential analyses, Spearman rho correlation analysis was applied to determine the relationships between variables. As a result, it was determined that the strongest motivation of the participants regarding participation in sports was skill development. No relationship was found between the ages of the participants and their motivations for participation in sports. It is thought that this situation is due to the fact that the volunteers participating in the study for their own personal physical and physiological health and development rather than for the competitive nature of the sport.
