Özet:

This study was conducted to examine the general structure of beekeeping enterprises in Tokat province and to evaluate the effects of maintenance and feeding practices on honey yield. The study was conducted through surveys conducted with 268 beekeepers randomly selected from 804 beekeeping enterprises registered in the Beekeeping Registration System of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry in Tokat province. The survey results were analyzed by focusing on demographic information, bee feeding habits, encountered problems and honey production efficiency. According to the results, it was determined that the majority of beekeepers 76.9 had a high school or higher education level and beekeeping was generally seen as an additional source of income. The average honey yield per hive was determined as 14.4 kg, which is above the Turkish average 10.6 kg. However, no statistically significant effect of the beekeepers age, experience or feeding factors on honey yield was found p0.05. The study showed that the majority of beekeepers 63.4 sold honey in retail and that products such as pollen and propolis were also important in marketing activities. In the study, beekeepers stated that the most important cost item was feeding costs 79.2. In addition, beekeepers listed their most important problems as bee diseases, climate change and bee plundering. As a result, it can be suggested that maintenance and feeding strategies should be improved, flora specific to the region should be protected and beekeeping education should be expanded in order to increase the efficiency of beekeeping activities in Tokat.
