Özet:

One of the most important steps in Ottoman modernization was the process that began with the proclamation of Tanzimat. Tanzimat not only affected the politics, economy and administrative structure of the Ottoman Empire, but also the cultural and artistic life. The relationship established with the West directly affected the development of Western culture and art in Anatolia during both the Ottoman and Republican periods. The art of theater also had its share of this influence, and the determinant role of this relationship, especially in matters such as the writing of Turkish works and the staging of Turkish dramas, has been a matter of debate. For example, the State Theaters DT established in 1949 did not leave a wide space for Turkish plays. After 2000, however, there has been a significant increase in the number of performances of Turkish dramas, which have made significant contributions to Turkish theater culture.
