Özet:

For a healthy and happy life, the user should feel that she belongs to the place where she lives and should be able to define the natural, physical and social life of the place where she lives. It is important for individuals to establish a relationship with the region they live in, to associate themselves and to establish a bond with a place in order to create sustainable environments. The living environment must be able to respond to the social and physical requirements and desires of the individual in order to generate sustainable ecosystems. n the social context, sustainability focuses on the issues of access to facilities and services, social cohesion, participation in social life, and supporting place attachment belonging. This study focuses on the neighbourhood while exploring human and environmental issues in the areas where place attachment and social sustainability studies intersect. The aim of this study is to investigate how the sense of attachment to the neighbourhood depends on which environmental and social factors in order to evaluate social sustainability principles in the Istanbul Bahçelievler Merkez neighbourhood. In this research, survey questions determined at the intersection of Bahçelievler Merkez neighbourhood residents and the parameters of place attachment and social sustainability, and observations made by the researcher for the neighbourhood were used as a means of collecting information.
