Özet:

The service provided by women’s shelters is the primary service to women who, exposed to violence, can access and take advantage of it. Women’s shelters should provide service playing a role that helps women to get out the violence environment, take social support, get empowered and make it easy to speed the transition process to an independent life with their children, if any. Not only may the experiences of women before staying in women’s shelters but also the psychology of women staying in women’s shelters affect the type and manner of interaction of women. The relationship between women and the other women and staff of women’s shelters may turn into women’s solidarity, strengthen women, continue after leaving women’s shelters but also may negatively affect these women. This study aims to understand how women staying in women’s shelters experience and perceive the relationships with other women and staff in women’s shelters and whether these relationships have an enhancer effect on women. In addition to this, the comments of staff of women’s shelters on these relationships are also be analyzed. In this study, phenomenology method is used. The in-depth interviews were made with forty-three women staying in women’s shelters and fifty staff working in various positions in women’s shelters in the study. The study revealed that some of the women staying in women’s shelters get in contact with each other by sharing their experiences and such experience sharing makes women feel that they are not alone in terms of violence stories and they can lead each other to solve such violence problems. On the other hand, the staff of women’s shelters think that the relationships between women are temporary, burst like a bubble and proceed from harmony to conflict not from conflict to harmony.
