Özet:

Hurufat books are among the collections found in the archives of the General Directorate of Foundations. These registers contain records of appointments made to foundations and institutions such as mosques, masjids, madrasas, and tombs that were maintained through foundation revenues. It is also possible to find records related to the foundations and endowed structures in Malatya, one of the major settlement centers of the Ottoman Empire, within the hurufat books. Based on this, the subject of this study is the appointments recorded in the hurufat register numbered 560 concerning the Malatya district. In this context, the primary objective of the study is to identify both religious and civil architectural structures in Malatya and determine the foundations by examining the appointment records of officials. Initially, the hurufat registers related to the Malatya district in the archives of the General Directorate of Foundations were reviewed. Subsequently, the relevant register was transcribed into modern Turkish and analyzed. A necessary literature review was conducted on institutions such as mosques, masjids, and madrasas, and previous studies were also utilized. The fact that Malatyas hurufat registers have not been the subject of a dedicated research study until now makes this study significant in its field. We believe that this research will also serve as a foundation for future studies related to the Malatya hurufat registers.
