Özet:

In the international structure, which entered a new phase with the Cold War, regional subsystems began to gain importance. One of the regional reflections of the global struggle created by the new world order is experienced in the Black Sea today. The conflicting interests of the United States of America USA and the Russian Federation Russia in the Black Sea lead to increased instability in the region. Washington states the Black Sea region as an area of interest and sees a stronger Russia in this region as a problem. Russia, on the other hand, defends the multipolar world system against the USA. Russias goal is to become the single sovereign power in the region. For this reason, Russia has started to implement an active policy, perceiving the North Atlantic Treaty Organization NATO and the European Union EU expanding towards Eastern Europe as threats to its own regional interests. Geopolitics is one of the most important issues in international relations. Many geopolitical theories basically attach importance to Eurasian geography. The Black Sea, located in Eurasia, has become the focus of many actors with the power vacuum in the region and new concepts brought to geopolitics after the Cold War. The fact that the Black Sea is a key point especially in economy and security has affected the policies of the actors who want to gain power in the basin. In this study, the main point of view was determined as geopolitical and the Black Sea Basin was examined from a geopolitical perspective.
