Özet:

The competition fueled by the capitalist production structure connects the meaning of life to career success and the material satisfaction it provides. The capitalist system, in which success is measured by wealth and failure is equated with worthlessness, adversely affects all social groups. The capitalist system, which paves the way to be put human values into the background in order not to lose gains based on self-interest, pushes people into a ruthless competition. In modern capitalist societies where the meaning of the work has changed, the measurement of success by commodities leads to the perception of unemployment as an identity crisis. The current production organization, which causes growing unemployed mass, threatens all blue or white-collar workers who work with manual, mental or labor power. In this study, film of Costa-Gavras Le Couperet (2005) has been analyzed in the context of the concepts of capitalism, competition and white-collar unemployment. The film, which tells how a white-collar manager begins to kill his rivals because of desperation and the material and moral destruction he has suffered after being unemployed, also reveals the ruthlessness of capitalist competition conditions. In the study, descriptive analysis and semiotic methods were used together. The analysis of the Le Couperet film, which tells the story of the transformation of an exemplary white-collar employee trained by the capitalist system into a serial killer, brings into question the background of the economic system that the working people are in, the psychological delusions caused by the current economic structure, and the brutal and parasitic position that man has come to within the system he has created.
