Özet:

Bayburt, which has been on important routes throughout history, has been an indispensable commercial transit point in every period of history. It is the region where ammunition was stored and distributed during the expeditions to the east during the Ottoman period. This situation has allowed the construction of various architectural structures belonging to different civilizations since the first day of the citys establishment. Bayburt Castle has managed to attract the attention of travelers and traders with its Baçini style tile decorations and about 20 inscriptions, which are surrounded by the Çoruh River on three sides, which can be seen even from a long distance by those who come to the city. The castle tiles of the castle, which shine with the very ornate sunbeam and enchant those who look at it, should be considered a symbol of power and wealth. Among the various decorative elements used in architecture, tile decoration, which adds color to the works by appearing on the body walls and minarets of the works in the Seljuk period, and in the architectural works of the Ottoman period, is an advanced decoration technique that is used quite frequently in Turkish art. The most striking examples of tile decorations, which we see quite often in religious buildings such as mosques and tombs built in Anatolia in the first half of the 13th century, and in civil buildings such as palaces, were unearthed in the Kubadabad Palace. There are different application techniques of the ornamental element that activates the inside or outside of the body walls and adds color to the facade, which is more common in monumental architectural structures. In this study, the place and importance in Turkish art will be determined by giving information about the baçini style tiles adorning the main walls of Bayburt Castle, which has not been emphasized much and is sometimes also called inlay. The study data were collected with the document analysis method, and the analyzes of the data were carried out by the content analysis technique.
