Özet:

With the increase in mechanization and technological advancements following the Industrial Revolution, the dangers faced by workers have increased. The rise in sectoral diversity and the number of employees has made working life more complex. As a result of these developments, the number of workplace accidents has increased, negatively affecting working life day by day. Workplace accidents are a very serious problem both globally and in Turkey. Although workplace accidents are a common problem for all countries, they can be reduced by implementing necessary precautions. Efforts to promote occupational health and safety practices continue both globally and in our country to implement these precautions. In compiling workplace accident data, ILOSTAT data for the distribution of workplace accidents by country worldwide, EUROSTAT statistical data for the number of workplace accidents and fatal workplace accidents by sector in European Union countries, and SGK statistical data for workplace accidents in Turkey were used. The aim of this study is to examine the changes in the number of workplace accidents and the rates of fatal workplace accidents worldwide and in Turkey between 2015 and 2021, and to analyze the number of workplace accidents and fatal workplace accidents in certain sectors in Turkey and the European Union.
