Özet:

Although protecting and preserving film material is crucial to the creation of cinematographic heritage, it is insufficient on its own because even a film that has been preserved under optimal conditions has a finite lifespan. The photochemical material can be digitally scanned and renewed using computer software, and this copy can be preserved and stored as digital output or photochemical film thanks to advancements in digital technology. This method is known as digital film restoration. In this study, the main activities for the preservation of cinematographic heritage will be discussed, the main qualities and types of photochemical film material that form the basis of the cinematographic heritage will be explained technically, the workflow of digital film restoration will be compared with restoration based solely on photochemical processes, and the importance of digital film restoration in the preservation of cinematographic heritage will be addressed by using qualitative research methods.
