Özet:

Knowledge about the physical and metaphysical worlds is obtained from religion and science, two important sources that people trust. However, the relationship between these two sources has caused some disagreements. A Renaissance wind swept through the Islamic world in the early 20th century, drawing attention to the Wests awakening, its scientific advancements, and the shift away from religion. The relationship between religion and science was reconsidered, along with certain beliefs. This study aims clarifying the extent of the relationship between the Quran and experimental sciences in the new theology; interpreting cosmic events considering religious texts and evaluating the relationship between religion and science and how religion and experimental science can both contribute to explaining natural phenomena. Does the scientific explanation of natural phenomena negate the role of religion? Have scientific theories influenced the reinterpretation of religious texts, and what is the value of the concept of scientific miracles? In this study, I relied on the analytical, descriptive, and critical approach, by analyzing the multiple explanations of natural phenomena and the sources on which they were based, aiming to assess their true value, identify shortcomings, and possible alternatives. This research was divided into four chapters. The first chapter examines the position of religion and science within the theory of knowledge, focusing on their relationship in the context of the research, while the second chapter addresses the crisis in the relationship between religion and science. The third chapter revolves around re-reading religious texts in light of experimental sciences within the framework of modern theology, and the fourth chapter investigates the crisis surrounding the concept of scientific miracles in the Holy Quran, highlighting the critical observations made on this topic in recent decades. Finally, the following results are mentioned: Viewing religious interpretations as easily dismissible when natural phenomena can be explained through experimental science is a mistake resulting from a misunderstanding of the relationship between religion and experimental sciences. The problem of the conflict between religion and science originated in Europe, far from the Islamic atmosphere, but dealing with this issue as it appeared in Islamic society could lead to crises similar to what happened in Europe. Attempts to read religious texts in the light of modern science make the texts subservient to science, seeking validation from it, while religion serves a different purpose. The phenomenon of scientific miracles creates a real crisis in the relationship between religion and science and is merely an ideological issue that objectivity and fairness reject.
