Özet:

Abu al-Baqa Bahaa al-Din Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Ziyad ibn Muhammad ibn al-Umari al-Sughani d. 8541450 was a prominent Hanafi jurist, born in Mecca. He studied jurisprudence, the principles of jurisprudence, tafsir, hadith, kalam, Quranic readings, and rhetoric in Mecca, Cairo, and Jerusalem with leading scholars of that period, especially his father. In his fathers absence, he deputized in the position of Qadi al-Qudah Chief Judge, later assuming the role of al-Muhtasib of Mecca, and subsequently serving as a judge there. During this period, he also taught at the Grand Mosque in Mecca. Among his most distinguished students were Ahmad ibn Abd al-Qadir al-Mahyawi and al-Sakhawi. He passed away in Mecca and was buried in the Cemetery of al-Mala. This study aims to examine Ibn al-Dhias scholarly contributions through an analysis of his tafsir and personal life, based on historical sources. While examining his scholarly approach, an assessment of the methodology inferred from his works will also be attempted. Ibn al-Dhia was accomplished in both jurisprudence and tafsir, demonstrating proficiency in the sciences of the Quran, grammar, and rhetoric. In his tafsir, he frequently cited other sources, sometimes mentioning the name of the author, at other times the work itself, and occasionally adding his own opinions. His tafsir includes discussions on Quranic sciences, jurisprudence, kalam, and rhetoric, as well as critiques of opposing sects and doctrines. Regarding the narrations from Israiliyyat, he would often indicate if a story was of Israeli origin, without further commentary on its authenticity; alternatively, he might provide an explanation of the story without mentioning the chain of narration, or quote directly from the source. Additionally, he incorporated poetry into his exegesis. Sources mention that he authored a tafsir titled Al-Mutadarak ala al-Madarik fi al-Tafsir. It is noted that he completed this work up to Surah Hud, and the remainder was completed by his father. A manuscript of his tafsir, covering Surah Taha to the end of Surah al-Hajj, is preserved in the Suleymaniye Library. In this study, the portion from Surah Taha of this manuscript, known as Tafsir Ibn al-Dhia, has been analyzed.

Ebûl-Bekâ Bahâüddîn Muhammed b. Ahmed b. Bu dönemde Mescid-i Haramda dersler vermiştir.
