Özet:

While digitalization is rapidly transforming almost every field in the world, media organizations are trying to keep up with the digital transformation in various ways. This study focuses on the digital transformation journey of Socrates, a monthly sports magazine published since April 2015. The aim of the study is to reveal how digital technologies that emerged with digital developments are used in Socrates Magazine and how the magazine has been transformed digitally. Socrates Magazines digital breakthroughs to date have been realized with the creation of the printed magazine and its online edition, the magazine website, the digital subscription system, corporate accounts on social media platforms, broadcasting activities on YouTube, e-retail operations and finally The Rival application, which can be considered as a global initiative of the magazine. Each of the digitalization processes has been planned and implemented by Socrates in the short, medium and long term, and digital technologies have been integrated into business processes over time. The Rival application stands out as the latest link in the digitalization adventure of Socrates, which started its publication life as a printed sports magazine. In this case study, which was handled with a descriptive method, the data were obtained from personal observations made by following Socrates since its first issue and from experiencing The Rival application by using it. In the study, the digital adaptation capacity of Socrates Journal was underlined and it was determined that the journal continued to carry out its digital transformation in order to establish its own solid economy. In addition, it has been observed in the study that the writing tradition, which was the starting point of the magazine in the digitalization process of Socrates, has been continued with the application of The Rival, this time by including the readers in the process. In the study, it has been observed that the topic selection and writing style adopted by Socrates since the first day has been maintained in this application offered for global use.
