Özet:

The word can be defined as a meaningful word, consisting of one or several syllables. The word is stored in the memories of the experiences of all the people who speak the same language. Words learned through listening and reading are reinforced through speech and writing, and become permanent in the mind. The presence of the word that the person has affects his / her ability to understand and explain. The main element that enables the development of thoughts is words. Since every word has a concept in the human mind as a concept, and we can think with the concepts, we can say that the richness of the vocabulary increases the power of thinking. The acquisition of language skills in schools begins with the development of vocabulary. The vocabulary that the person has in expressing himself and understanding the people with whom he communicates is of great importance. Today, even young people's absence from reading is associated with the weakness of their vocabulary. Vocabulary is not only gained from books. One can transfer from all his visual and auditory impressions to the vocabulary. In our country, television is an important part of entertainment culture. This culture can be used to enrich people's vocabulary. The aim of this study is to identify the words that are encountered in Gülse Birsel's Jet Society series, which are not used frequently in daily conversations. But also makes use of uncultured characters. Whether it is the use of proverbs, idioms, phrases and local idioms, or the use of old words that have been forgotten or the words that have just entered our language with technology, the audience is provided with a rich variety of words, thus contributing to the active vocabulary of the language.
