Özet:

his article examines the circulation history of a manuscript of al-Baghawīs Maṣābīḥ al-Sunnah based on non-textual information. The first owner of the manuscript is ʿAzīz-i Māshāzah from Isfahan. He reads Maṣābīḥ to Sirāj al-Dīn al-Qazvīnī in Baghdad in sessions and receives ijāzah from him. He then returns to his hometown and teaches Maṣābīḥ from his own copy for a long time. The next owner of the manuscript is a person who receives ijāzah from Majd al-Dīn al-Fīrūzābādī for Maṣābīḥ. The manuscript is probably taken to Herat in the first half of the 9th15th century. It becomes the property of Saʿdaddīn-i Fārisī, a mudarris at the Ghiyāthiyya Madrasa in Herat, and is endowed to the madrasa in his name. Amidst the chaos caused by the political and military rivalry between the Safavids and the Shaybanids, the manuscript likely leaves Herat. Its new owner is a Shāfiʿī merchant family from Shiraz. As the Safavids Shīʿa-based religious policy intensifies, the later generations of the Shiraz family also convert to Shīʿism. However, they keep the books inherited from their Shāfiʿī-Sunnī ancestors, including Maṣābīḥ manuscript, hidden in their possessions. In the first half of the 11th17th century, a former Basra judge meets the family during a visit to Shiraz and purchases Maṣābīḥ manuscript at a high price. He also notes the story of the acquisition process on the initial pages of the manuscript. The manuscript is probably brought to the Sunnī geography thanks to him and its last owner becomes Sheikh al-Islām Feyzullah Efendi. He endows the manuscript to the library he founded, and it still retains this status today. The article focuses on the analysis of the circulation history of the manuscript, which we have briefly summarized here.
