Özet:

The aim of this research is to reveal the experiences of male undergraduate students studying in the child development departments of different universities in Turkey, starting from the process of choosing the department of child development, until the process of studying at the university. The research was designed with a qualitative research model. The study group of the research consists of 18 male undergraduate students studying at the Undergraduate Child Development Department in different cities in Turkey. In the research, Demographic Information Form and Departmental Experiences of Male Child Development Undergraduate Students Interview Form were used as data collection tools. As a result of the study, it was seen that most male child development students chose this department because of necessity. In addition, although they were happy to study in the undergraduate department, it was concluded that they felt alone in the classroom because the department was predominantly female. Finally, most of the participants stated that they received negative comments from society because they studied in the child development department as a male, and they mostly encountered opinions that child development is not a profession suitable for males.
