Özet:

ABSTRACT: Holidays, ceremonies, and festivities, which exist in almost every society, play a major role in the formation of national identity, and form the basis of societies and provide social solidarity and unity by establishing bonds between individuals, have an important place in social life. These holidays and festivities, which take place in certain months and include various rituals, from Nowruz to Hıdırellez, from Eid al-Fitr to Eid al-Adha, from the mating of sheep to plucking crops to Ashura and Shivliness, are celebrated with great enthusiasm and many of them have become traditions, and even though they have undergone various changes from the past to the present, these have become an inseparable part of Turkish culture. Holidays, festivities, and traditional entertainment consist of certain shows. And traditions determine the shape and rules of these shows. The basic building blocks of culture, knowledge, behavioral patterns, etc., which are passed from generation to generation in society, constitute traditions. There are also practices that bear the nature of law in traditions. Traditions, which are accepted as social norms, enable the individual to comply with the rules of the society in which she lives with unwritten sanction power. From this perspective, we could state that traditions form the basic structure of holidays, celebrations, and traditional entertainment.
