Özet:

Living a good life is the greatest goal of our lives. The better life index developed by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development OECD is used to determine the well-being level of people in countries. In the better life index, the dimensions that play a role in the well-being of the individual are determined and comparisons of well-being levels between countries can be made. Within the scope of the study, the location of OECD countries relative to each other were tried to be determined according to the better life index. Countries can be located relative to each other by using multidimensional scaling analysis, which is one of the multivariate statistical analysis techniques. With multidimensional scaling analysis, the locations of countries in two-dimensional space based on distance measurements of similarities and dissimilarities according to the better life index were determined. It has been determined that countries located in the region close to the zero point of Dimension 1 and Dimension 2 of the two-dimensional space have better indicators in terms of better life index. It has been determined that European countries are located in the region close to the zero point of Dimension 1 and Dimension 2. Colombia and Mexico are located separately from all countries as countries with unwell values in better life index variables compared to the OECD average value. Türkiye and Chile are countries located far from the zero point of Dimension 1 and Dimension 2. Most of the better life index dimensions of Türkiye and Chile have negative values. Korea is also located in a separate place in Dimension 1 compared to most countries. This is because Korea is a country with well values for most of the better life index dimensions, but unwell values for some dimensions. Countries with well and unwell levels can be determined according to the better life index. Countries with low better life index levels will contribute to the well-being of their citizens by implementing the practices and policies of countries with good levels according to the better life index.
