 Tranzschelia discolor Fuckel Tranzschel and Litv. is a plant pathogenic fungus causing rust disease in stone fruit species. Rust pustules formed on leaves reduce photosynthesis area, leading to premature leaf fall. This pathogen has physiological forms specialized for different stone fruit species. Severe infections in plums and almonds persist throughout summer, while occurring in apricots and peaches in late summer and early autumn. Except for T. discolor f. sp. domesticae, the influence of temperature on the development of other physiological forms is unknown. This study investigated the effect of temperature on germ tube development of urediospores of each physiological form of T. discolor causing rust on plums, peaches, apricots, and almonds. The length of germ tube developed from urediospores collected from rust infected leaves was determined at eigth different temperatures ranging from 2 to 35C. Urediospores placed on slides containing water agar medium were incubated for 12 hours under the mentioned temperature conditions. Germ tube length was measured under a light microscope. Regression analysis revealed the best fit against the quadratic model. According to this model, the optimum temperatures for all physiological forms of T. discolor were found to be between 17.2 - 17.7C. No significant difference was found among physiological forms in terms of temperature requirements. Although limited, germ tube development was observed even at 2 C. Temperatures between 5 and 25C were highly favorable for pathogen development, with no growth observed at 35C. The results obtained will contribute to the development of early warning systems in the management of rust in stone fruit and the timing of spraying in chemical control.

 Tranzschelia discolor Fuckel Tranzschel and Litv. sert çekirdekli meyve türlerinde pas hastalığına neden olan bitki patojeni bir fungustur. Yapraklarda oluşan pas püstülleri fotosentez alanının azalmasına ve erken yaprak dökümlerine yol açmaktadır. Etmenin farklı sert çekirdekli meyve türlerine özelleşmiş fizyolojik formları bulunmaktadır. Şiddetli enfeksiyonlar erik ve bademde yaz boyunca devam ederken kayısı ve şeftalide yaz sonu ve sonbahar başı ortaya çıkmaktadır. T. discolor f.sp. domesticae hariç diğer fizyolojik formların gelişiminde sıcaklık faktörünün etkisi bilinmemektedir. Bu çalışmada T. discolorın erik, şeftali, kayısı ve bademde pasa neden olan fizyolojik formlarının ürediosporlarının çim tüpü gelişimi üzerinde sıcaklığın etkisi araştırılmıştır. Pasla enfekteli erik, şeftali, kayısı ve badem yapraklarından toplanan ürediosporların çim tüpü gelişimi 2-35 oCde aralığındaki sekiz farklı sıcaklıkta belirlenmiştir. Su agar ortamı içeren lamlar üzerine yayılan ürediosporlar belirtilen sıcaklık koşullarında 12 saat süreyle inkübe edilmiştir. Çim tüpü uzunluğu ışık mikroskobu altında ölçülmüştür. Yapılan regresyon analizinde veriler en iyi uyumu quadratik modele karşı göstermiştir. Bu modele göre tüm fizyolojik formlar için optimum sıcaklık 17,2 -17,7 oC aralığında bulunmuştur. Sınırlı olsa da çim tüpü gelişimi 2 oCde dahi gözlenmiştir. Test edilen 5 ve 25 oC arasındaki sıcaklıklar patojen gelişimi için oldukça uygun bulunurken 35 oC de bir gelişme olmamıştır. Elde edilen sonuçlar, sert çekirdekli meyvelerde pas mücadelesinde erken uyarı sistemlerinin geliştirilmesine ve kimyasal mücadelede ilaçlama zamanının ayarlanmasına katkı sağlayacak niteliktedir.
