Özet:

Northern and Eastern Tartaria was published in Amsterdam in 1692 by the Dutch statesman Nikolas Witsen. Later, the work was revised and reprinted in 1705 and 1785 with some additions. The study gives unique information about many peoples and communities about a wide geography from Crimea, Caucasus, Volga-Ural Region, Siberia, Central Asia, Afghanistan, Mongolia, Amur Basin, Tibet, Manchuria, and Korea. In the study, there are many Turkish communities and the regions where these communities live. The information given by Witsen includes the geography where the Turks spread in the 17th century, the countries they lived in, the cities, trade routes, place names, and many more. This makes the work even more important in the sight of Turkish history. Since all of the Turkish communities in the work will exceed the limits of a study, it will be focused on the notes about the Nogais, Yenisey Kyrgyz, and Bashkirs living in a close geography among Turkish peoples.
