Özet:

In Classical Turkish literature, the concept of muamma, a genre that involves mystery, gained significant attention in Persian literature during the 15th and 16th centuries. This genre led to the creation of instructional texts. As a result of cultural interaction, this genre found its way into Turkish literature, where Persian didactic works were translated and commented upon in Turkish. One of these works is Risâle-i Ziyâiyye by Şihâbüddîn Hakîrî, a poet from the time of Hüseyin Baykara, who used the pen name Hakîrî. According to biographical dictionaries tezkire, he was a powerful ode poet and a master of muamma. The work Risâle-i Ziyâiyye, the subject of this study, was translated into Turkish by an unknown commentator. We have only one surviving manuscript of this commentary, and its transcription date is 1155 1742-43. The Risâle-i Ziyâiyye consists of 129 couplets, all of which were translated and commented on. The genre of muamma in the work is divided into four categories: Tahsîlî, tekmîlî, teshîlî, and tezyîlî. The commentary first presents the original Persian text, followed by its Turkish translation and explanation. In the introduction to this study, an overview of the muamma genre and its development is provided. The analysis section examines the life and works of Şihâbüddîn Hakîrî based on the information found in biographical dictionaries tezkires. Furthermore, this section delves into the form and content of the analyzed Turkish commentary. In the text section, a transcription of the sole extant manuscript of the commentary is presented. Translations of the couplets found on the missing folio, as well as those previously untranslated, are provided in the footnotes.
