Özet:

This study aims to demonstrate the role of state-owned banks, investment banks, and development banks in promoting socioeconomic development in especially developing countries. As it is in other developing countries, these banks in Türkiye have been the driving force behind the Turkish economy. In addition, the establishments managed by these banks have also played a crucial role in the socioeconomic progress of the regions where they are located. It is assumed that these establishments achieve this sucsess by providing financial support to the local institutions and also by running some specific social and cultural facilities in the respective regions. Within this context, this research specifically focuses on Etibank Murgul Copper Enterprise MBİ, located in MurgulArtvin, a province in the northeast region of Türkiye. Etibank MBİ has made substantial contributions to the socioeconomic development of the local area since it was established as a public enterprise in 1953. This study examines the contributions of Etibank MBİ to the socioeconomic development of Murgul from the year of 1953 to 1983. The period after the year of 1983 is excluded in this study due to the fact that Etibank MBİ was transferred to Karadeniz Copper Enterprises KBİ in 1983. The analysis findings highlight the crucial role that Etibank MBİ has played in driving the socioeconomic development of the region.
