Özet:

This study examines Platos Euthyphro, Apologia, and the Crito for the function of law in the process of Socrates death. It can be said that there are different conceptions of Socrates death. For example, while some see this death as a death consistent with his life, others read Socrates attitude toward the law as a means of maintaining the established order. Socrates thoughts on death led him to surrender to what he was destined to do, and in this manner Socrates death was seen as suicide. Socrates claim is that he had a mission to serve the social unity in which he lived, and that a better life was possible by fulfilling this mission. The aim of this study is to question the possibility of a virtuous life as formulated by Socrates and to determine whether Socrates himself acted in accordance with his current mission when he went to his death. In this context, the correctness of his unconditional submission to the law is discussed.
