Özet:

Shalwar is a bottom wear product preferred by Turks since ancient times in terms of comfort and is a preferred part of traditional and modern clothing today. The scope of this study focuses on the shalwar design, which is an important part of Turkish clothing culture. It has been examined and modernized using the zero-waste fashion design method. The zero- waste fashion design method is a technique that aims to minimize cut- and-sew waste during the design phase. By employing the zero-waste fashion design method, it is possible to prevent environmental damage caused by waste at the early stages of the design process. This study employed the experimental development method to conduct the research. The existing literature on the subject was reviewed, and the model lines of traditional shalwar were examined. Subsequently, modern shalwar samples were developed while targeting zero waste and incorporating contemporary elements. Generally examined that, by reviewing the conventional design methods and contributing to todays sustainability efforts, it can be transformed into a part of the modern world through the use of sustainable design methods. Consequently, examining old design methods and incorporating sustainable design practices, shalwar can be revitalized as a part of the modern world, making a valuable contribution to todays sustainability efforts.
