Özet:

Today, the elderly population, whose proportion in the total population is increasing with each passing year, reveals demographic aging. Society aging means the expansion of the upper part of the population pyramid in a society. This situation points to a demographic structure where the young population is decreasing and the elderly population is increasing. The increase in individuals aged 65 and over in the total population is due to the decrease in birth rates or the increase in life expectancy. Therefore, the decline in fertility rates and the fact that people live longer constitute the basic dynamics of societys aging. This demographic transformation creates some potential impacts on societies: such as the labor market, social security and health services, and economic development. In this regard, especially developing countries are developing policies and strategies to adapt to demographic changes and manage potential problems. One of the most important of these policies is successful aging. In this context, the study aims to determine the successful aging effects of the cultural capital of individuals aged 60 and over according to some demographic variables. To achieve this aim, the Cultural Capital Scale was applied to 390 individuals aged 60 and over. Additionally, a semi-structured interview form was applied to measure the effects of cultural capital on successful aging. It was observed that the cultural capital levels of the participants differed according to their socio-demographic variables.

Günümüzde toplam nüfusu içerisinde oranı, her geçen yıla oranla artış gösteren yaşlı nüfus, demografik yaşlanmayı ortaya çıkarmaktadır.
